First off let me apologize, I can see you guys get hit with this problem alot. I searched the forums here and at techstop and could not find one specific to my problem. I figured that each attack was different and thought I would post to see if I can get some help. Ok the main problem I am having is this. Last night I recieved a message from Trend Micro PC that I trojan virus was found in one of my System files and Temp files. Immediately the desk went to a blue background with a small rectangle in the middle. The Top of the rec is yellow and says Warning Spyware detected on your computer! the bottom part is in blue with the following Install Antivirus or spyware remover to clean you computer. Trend Micro is my Anti-Virus and I use Ad-Aware as my Anti-Spyware (2007). I must admit this little devil is a clever S.O.B. It has disabled my Desktop tab in Display and Screen Saver, and get this my screen saver is the blue screen of death and then switches to the screen of the Windows XP logo with the loading bar under it much like an actual re-boot. I have to press one of the F function keys to pull up my password prompt and then everything is fine. So with all that having been said is there anyone out there who can help me out with this? It would be greatly appreciated. On another note, I have to return to work it will be later in the day when I get back before I can reply. I appreciate again any help that can be given.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

:install hijackthis:

  • Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Copy/Paste the log to your next reply please.

Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required
    .

:uninstall list:

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in your next reply.

:information and logs:

In your next post I need the following

1.log from hijackthis
2.uninstall list
[/list]
