Lets make a restore point.
Click Start
Select All Programs.
Then accessories
Under System Tools
Select System Restore
Make sure Create a restore point is checked then click next.
Name it anything you like.

Then download RegSeeker. Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program. Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK. When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again. Then right click within the search results and select delete. Run it twice, deleting everything it finds. Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything). In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back. A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

NOTE: To be extra safe you can choose to only remove the items in RED.
Some items may come back because of the programs you have running.
I ran the Reg seeker……But noticed in your directions….first it says to remove everything , then in the end note it says to be safe just red highlighted ones……. i deleted the red highlighted ones…….but theres so many green ones i was wondering if just deleting the red ones would be enough…. also i remember you telling me to to go to add remove programs and deleting the old programs just keep current programs, i believe i started to try this and one gave a warning like if you continue it could mess up the program…..whats the safest way to go about deleting old programs?

you still around?

Sorry for the delay working at a nuke plant and started days and nights for a few weeks.. :pullhair:

before doing that you will need to make a restore point. incase there are some programs that may be affected.

In add and remove programs. How ever you may need to remove the files and folders if you want to regain the disk space.
I recently uploaded some pics from a camera to my computer went to tinypic.com which is resizing, webpage to get link to post to a forum out of 10 or so i posted fine…….one link came up with a virus……….the threat name is Exploit Windows Metafile (CVE-2005-2124) with unknown payload It was detected by avg, so it didn't make it to the computer but was wondering if this has anything to do with the way my computers running? also do you know how link became virus?

It is not uncommon for a web site to have a script running that would redirect you to a file that is infected.

their website sent me this :

(The image has been removed.

You may need to clear your browser's cache or temporary internet files and <i went in and cleared the cache

then refresh the page where you had viewed the image to avoid seeing an older
<not sure what this means/do i go back to their
website and refresh their page?

cached version of the image from before it was removed by us.

If you still see the image after clearing your browser's cache and temporary < when i used this site and they resized/ gave me a
a link so i could link a picture to mail/forum is it
saved in my computer, if so do you know where?
because i just copied the link from their site and
pasted in a email/forum

Internet files, you may need to refresh your browser page. This is usually
done by holding down the shift key and clicking on the reload or refresh icon
in your browser. After doing so, the image should change to the Tinypic
removal icon.

Thank you!

can't i just delete the link/ file that had the virus? not sure why i have to delete all the temporary files
If you are talking about reformatting and reinstalling Windows. And you would be taking your computer back to a state when you first purchased the PC.
I'm going on a trip the end of next week and may be able to get the disk back from my Sister……I'll be gone for 3 weeks…..If I get the disk maybe i'll have to repost…..thanks for your help
