Hi btotl

Try download and install the update manually.

Goto Start
All programs,
At the top, there should be a windows update. It will open IE and direct you to
Microsoft's update. Scan for for updates, install as necessary.

If still no joy, please download Dial-A-Fix.

Dial-A-Fix

Unzip the tool to a map of its own.

Double-click the "Blue Wheel"
Click on radio button named "Flush software-distribution" Let it work through.
Next you place a checkmark / Tick in "Fix Windows update"
Click on "GO" in the bottom left corner.
Let it work through
Reboot

See if you are able to update.

Side-question: Do you have Windows Defender installed?

Regards Abydos
Is this a big update (Service Pack maybe)?

Or is this a typical every month update. Even for a 10MB update file, it shouldn't take that long…

Windows Update can be upgraded to Microsoft Update.
Hi btotl Did you try the other things suggested? As for Windows Defender, sometimes if automatic update is turned off in Defender and set to notification instead, updates will install upon shutting down the PC. Hence my side question. Regards Abydos
