Hi Im new and fairly computer illiterate. I get this message:
023 Service: Security Centre (WSCSVC) - Unknown ower
The action taken says that services have been disabled and stoppend but a reboot is necessary. But when I reboot its still there. I keep getting a system alert saying I have Trogan-Spy.Win32@Mx or Spybot@Mxt trogan. I get directed to a virus scanner which costs $50. Have I been hijacked?
My log is:

Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

Open Notepad, copy and paste the following text (in bold) into the new Notepad window.

sc stop wscsvc

sc delete wscsvc

Save it to your Desktop, as type "all files", as fixservice.bat

It should now look like this icon now.
[external image: Posted Image]
Now double click this file, won't see much happen.
A quick flash is about all.
Then you may delete the file we just made.

RUN HJT

HJT
Run hijackthis and choose scan only and place a check by the following lines if present.
Close all other windows and browsers except HJT before clicking on Fix Checked

O2 - BHO: e404 helper - {F10587E9-0E47-4CBE-ABCD-7DD20B862223} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: Web Application - {81705D67-3F73-4983-859B-97D0922E5ABE} - C:\Program Files\NetProject\wamdl.dll

Close that.

Next we're going to remove a bad file. I want you to take special note here. We are removing a file that looks very very similar to a legitimate file.
So I may overly explain myself .

It's actually where this file is running from that shows me it's bad.
My point is I don't want you to panic if you see nor do I want you to delete anytime you see a file called svchost.exe unless instructed by me.

To clarify we are removing this. Note the location/path

C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe

Never ever remove this legitimate windows file.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
Smitfraud by S!ri

  • Double clcik the smitfraud.exe
  • When promted
    Press any key to continue.
  • Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with any others I have asked for in your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. When prompted by allow it to run

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!
If you do and smitfraud isn't present it will have undesirable effects
