Lately I've been having a problem with AVG Anti-Spyware. The first time I did a series of scans as specifically outlined in the forum by multiple posts, it detected multiple problems, but all of these problems were just archived tracking cookies from a couple of old backups of Firefox using the FEBE/CLEO extensions. I've since deleted those backups because I don't need them anymore as they are too outdated. I recently reset my scheduled scan (created new profile and scheduled for 4:30am including scan asap if missed). The problem that arose was that it would always be set to the next days scan and never for the current day. In other words, if it's 4:00am on 2/7/08, and I have it set to scan every day at 4:30am, then it would have the next scheduled scan set as 4:30am 2/8/08. I still have no clue how that happened, but after a few more tries, I finally got a scan profile to successfully schedule and run. The big problem I'm having though, is that when the scheduled scan runs, the program shuts down before the scan completes and no report gets generated. It shows some hits on the "Detected Malware so far" counter, but I don't have any way of knowing what it's interpreting as malware since I can't see a report. I have the feeling it's just some benign cause for the hits since neither Ad-Aware nor Spybot S&D show any hits. My AVG AntiVirus also shows no signs of infection. Is there any known cause for AVG Anti-Spyware to continuously terminate during a scan? Btw, sorry if this post is hard to read, I haven't had any sleep and have a bit on my mind.
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your AVGas.
This is not usual behaviour…..

The standard procedure in these circumstances is to uninstall the software, reboot your machine and then reinstall it and see how you go.

If the trouble persists then attempt to run the programme in safe mode, if you still have problems with it, then perhaps it's time for you to visit our malware removal forum, download HJT and post a log file over there (not here please in this forum as we don't analyse them here)

Here's a link to the malware removal forum, just in case you need it!
