  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

    Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

    Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"



    Reboot and please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Removed ComboFix, removed items per your instructions in HJT. Rebooted system and all seems to be fine. Ran ATF Cleaner and removed all TIFs, cookies, download history, etc. in IE 7, Firefox 2, Opera 9. Started Firefox 2 (default browser) and opened www.google.com. Same problem in that Google in German (google.de) opened. I selected Google in English and there is still the Google Deutschland link. If you think my system is clean, I think I'll live with this anomaly. We've both spent WAY too much time on this. As long as there isn't any spyware or maiware on the system I'll just do my usual AdAware, Spybot S&D and AVS scan schedules and move on. I would like to thank you for your patience and help with this. Sorry we couldn't find a solution to my original problem. Regards, Rick

After un-installing Spybot S & D and rebooting the problem with Google Deutschland and Google opening in German has disappeared!. :woot: Maybe it had something to do with Tea Timer or maybe the last removals you had me do resolved it. Anyway, system seems to be running fine and I will try re-installing the latest version of Spybot S&D to see if it works properly. If the problem shows up again after the reinstall I'll post.
