hi have been recommended to use this site by a friend, so here goes.
had a few problems with my computer so re-formatted and re-installed windows, worked fine for a few days then at boot up said a systems file was missing and stopped, re-installed windows again worked for another day or so then the same message.
can anyone help
many thanks simon
Hi Simon and
1 Am I correct in thinking that your have formatted your hard drive twice within the immediate past and reinstalled Windows each time?
2 If this is correct did you install new up to date drivers, starting with chipset, video, audio etc or did you just leave it to Windows to find a driver that would do the job and hope for the best?
3 Did you use a genuine Microsoft XP Home edition Installation disc with SP 2 to reinstall, if not please supply details of what you used. (ie copy disc, Manufacturers restore disc, Windows disc with SP2 slipstreamed on to it etc
4 Can you please tell us what you did immediately after installing Windows…the next steps you took…the first 6 steps you took will do, as we need to ensure that you completed all the usual procedures correctly and in the right order.
5 We really need the exact details of the error you are getting…presumably you have fired up your favourite search engine and tried to find some information on it? Details please of what you have tried already would be nice.
6 Information on your computer, make and model number etc would also be helpful
Sorry about all the questions, but the answers will help us to help you.
Regards
paws
