Beginning several days ago, my computer started popping up the "Found New Hardware" window on start-up even though I haven't added anything recently. I thought it might be a virus or malware so I had the system checked in the HJT forum and am sure the system is clean now but the window is still popping up. My system details are: Laptop - Samsung P20C, Windows XP Home, SP2, computer is about 4 years old. Any Ideas?
This often happens after a driver is updated and the operating system sees the new device driver as a new device. It also can happen if you simply move a device to a different USB pair. You might want to check Device Manager for any yellow or red errors. Otherwise, since it appears to be clean of malware, you may want to let the new hardware applet do its thing.
Hi. I haven't moved any USB ports. I checked the Device Manager and it shows a yellow question mark in Other Devices-Unknown Devices. Under details in the Properties of the "Unknown device" it shows "ROOT\LEGACY_ATICDSDR\0000" Any idea what this is?
I have gone into the Device Manager and uninstalled the "unknown device" and after restarting my computer the applet doesn't pop up anymore. I guess if something stops working, I will know what it was. I guess this issue can now be closed. If it resurfaces later I will repost. Thanks
