i'm trying to overcome computer illiteracy & stop terrorizing my unfortunate male friends into helping me. the fact i've gotten this is a miracle (i can't even burn a cd). had multiple problems (computer runs slow, toolbars missing, etc &. won't even start w/ modem nightmare when "upgraded" to digital phone). yesterday i removed 2 viruses w/ad-ware 2007 (didn't occur to remember names). b/c of some other stuff, also did system restore. today i was told restore points get infected too so i scanned again & removed more bad stuff. also i was told to check for malware (had to look that up) & many many hours later, i'm here . was hoping someone could take a look @ my log b/f i uninstall everything & try to start from scratch. or shoot the computer or myself (kidding about shooting myself, the computer's still in danger) : ) if someone could tell me how to get the log here... wait, i figured it out!!! yeah!!!!

Hi miss c,

Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS)
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.
