Hello,
Primarily I was trying to set up a small home network between an XP desktop and a Vista laptop and both are connected to a router. The XP is connected by an RJ45, but the laptop is wireless. The point was to share a simple non-network printer connected to the XP desktop. Between my trials I was trying to set up home/small network, give a common domain name (WORKGROUP), etc, but all my poke around trials failed.
Not only that, something has been screwed up in my ie6 on the XP desktop and now it forgets how it is connected to the internet. So once in while it cant connect to the net so it brings up an old dial up connection saved in my connections. If i close that dial up dialoge, ie hopelessly says "page cant be displayed". So i go tools->options->connections-> setup-> connect to internet-> manually-> always on, and hit ok.. sometimes work, other times not. If it doesnt work, i reboot and usually works right away, UNTIL it forgets again the network setup i did and brings up the dialup dialoge again.
I would greatly appreciate some help from an expert. Poking around doesnt work with me.
Thanks a lot
