Sir;
No it did not go away. It is still there and as well I checked one of the aviation sites I visit and it still does the same thing, that is when I click on a link inside the site, i get booted back to my desktop.

Open Internet Explorer
Go to Tools and choose for Internet Options
Go to the Advanced tab
Click on Reset… and allow if any warnings are given
Let the computer do its work if it has to
Now see whether the problem has stopped. Your Add-ons are also disabled at the moment so lets enable them:
Go to Tools then navigate to Manage Add-ons and click on Enable or Disable Add-ons
In the list of Disabled Add-ons please click on the upper one
Click on Enable
Do this with all the Add-ons
Click OK
Sir;
There are no disabled addons to enable. When I hit Reset, I keep getting a window which says I have to close everything else before hiitng Reset but everything else, ie; IE etc are all closed.
There is no more re-direct but the same error message come and goes depending on whether I refresh or not. Have again tried clearing the hopepage and re-entering but ot no avail.
Sir;
Tried the MSN thing before and I think the problem is in IE7. When I open IE now, the message is gone but if I go to another site and return to my home page, it is there again. Sometimes, I can refresh and it will be gone, other times, not. Something is definitely there and I am almost at the point of removing IE7 and re-installing. And of course , visiting some aviation sites as previously said, boots me back to my desktop.

I suggest you do this:
Uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP
Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."
Click "Add or Remove Programs."
Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.
Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove."
Sir;
I will do that and as I see how many times your name is popping up here, I can imagine how busy you are. I think we have exhausted any malaware/infection problems, so you can terminate this one if you want.
I appreciate the efforts.

Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
Understanding and Using Firewalls
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.
Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection.
You should also scan your computer with this program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer
settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.
