I sought assistance with the malware guys on this thread http://forums.whatthetech.com/Have_a_virus…=15#entry418692
and we thought we had it cleaned but the malware fought back and killed my machine that now I can't get into Windows through Safe Mode or any mode. LDTate reccomended I ask you guys which would be the best software to use to get some very important files off my computer that I didnt get to back up. The ones I know of are Bart's PE and ERD Commander. Any other suggestions?
There are a few other Linux distros that are bootable from CD.
Please hang around a bit and let's see if our Tech Team member "Paws" is available.

Following Doug's comments, you might like to consider the following:
In our workshop we generally either use Barts pre installed environment (it's a Windows environment) so fairly easy for most folks to use or we use a Live Linux disc like Knoppix or Slax (see which one seems best for your particular setup)
However an alternative approach is to remove your hard drive and slave it to another machine…… The other machine should be able to "see" the old hard drive and you will be able to get your important stuff safely copied of. IMPORTANT be careful that the new machine has up to date protections including anti virus, just copy the data over, do not run any executables or cross contaminate. You will also need to take all necessary personal safety and antistatic precautions. If you are unsure of any of this it may be best to entrust the work to a local competent computer technician;…..it's good to save money and to learn, but not to put at risk the safety of yourself, family, machine or data.
As a further alternative, for a pound or two or a dollar or four (+ post & packing) you can buy an IDE/SATA Drive connector and wire with a standard USB plug on the end that will simply plug into a suitable machine, It will come complete with its own 5V power supply (needed for a desktop hard drive but not generally for a notebook hard drive
Finally an external hard drive caddy is essentially the same thing as the connector and wire but having a case is a bit more permanent and costs just a pound or two (+p & p)
Post back here in this subforum if you need any further information.

Sometimes it's good to make a backup of your critical files. That's the reason to buy external hard drives,… EDITED to Remove Commercial For Sale Link
wiangube - Your recommendation to make Backups and the suggested use of an external Hard Drive for that purpose is generally good advice. HOWEVER, We don't support Commercial - For Sale links. – We actually call that SPAM
Consider this a friendly warning.
