Hi,

I'm not sure whether the issue is with my internet provider or whether I have other problems. About a week ago my phone line went down. I had Internet access(but with the posted issue) yet my phones were down. I called my phone company and they came and resolved the issue with my phone, yet the issue with my connection remained. I get icons in my toolbar stating that I have lost my internet connection, yet it will reconnect at times within seconds, or I have to disconnect power supply and/or renew ip address. It seems that every morning i have to disconnect the power supply to reconnect and gain access to the internet. Of note as well and maybe a separate issue is that I cannot access my pictures on my comp through the Nero photosnap viewer program I have installed on my comp, yet I can view them through Windows picture and fax viewer program. This leads me to believe that I may have a virus or worm. Any help is welcome

Here is a post of my log...

Hello JustBruin,

Sorry for the delay, it gets a little crazy around here most times.

I don't know if this will fix your issue but you do have some malware on your computer.

Go to your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall UltimateBuddy, if it wont let you let me know please.

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [UltimateBuddy] C:\PROGRA~1\ULTIMA~2\ULTIMA~1.EXE

C:\ Program Files\UltimateBuddy <-- Delete this folder

Lets see if anything else is lurking, run the free online virus scanner from Panda.
Run Panda's ActiveScan and perform a full system scan. This will only run with Internet Explorer
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
  • A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
  • If you are on a slow connection it will take about 15 minuites for the scanner to load.
  • Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
  • Once scan is done, click "see report" then "save report"
  • Save the log someplace you can find
  • Reboot
  • Post the Panda scan results in your next reply
Post the Panda Report and a New HJT log please

Your HJT log looks fine  Panda found nothing bad
  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.
  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
  • Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.
*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

If your still having problems than its not related to malware, you can try posting here for help.

Here are some free programs to install, these are must haves to help keep you secure
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.5
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.

Glad we could help

Safe Surfn
