Pc-pitstop say something to the effect that my browser does not support active x and therefore cannot run. I cannot run Panda Activescan online either. I tried to find an active x fixer but I cant find something that will fix reg errors for free can you help me?
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
If you follow these suggestions then sites like PCPitstop should with your permission be able to run an ActiveX control.
t is important that you only grant permission for an ActiveX to run when you are sure that the source is reputable (as is the case with PCPitstop and Panda Activescan). A malicious person or organisation on the other hand if given permission to run an ActiveX control on your machine could acquire control over your computer and cause all sorts of problems, so please be careful!
Assuming you have Windows service Pack 2 installed (if you haven't then please post back for further advice) you can ensure that your Internet Explorer is closed and then:
1 Click Start
2 Click Control Panel.
3 Double-click Internet Options.
4 Click Security tab.
5 Click the Internet icon
6 Click Custom Level button.
7 Scroll to "Download signed ActiveX controls" and set to "Prompt"
8 Scroll down to "Run ActiveX controls and Plug ins" is set to "Enable"
9 Click Apply
10 Click OK
See how you go, open Internet Explorer and look out for a notification of an activeX toward the top of your screen, when you go to for example PCPitstop, you will need to click on the notification strip to enable the download.

Well, PCPitstop had me do that already and it didn't work when I did it still yesterday, but today PCPitstop works but I still can't get Pandascan to work. It's supose to open a new window when you click scan now but nothing happens. Any idea why that would be? I've done this same scan many times before.
Hi,
Glad to hear that your ActiveX is now working,
Panda activescan does sometimes refuse to run, but as long as you are getting notification of downloading an ActiveX (as for example with PCPitstop) then its clear that its now working.
I can't see that you have any HJT logs open in the malware removal forum, since Shelf life helped you clean up your friends machine back in July, but if you have any specific reason to suspect malware on this machine, and therefore, it is for this reason you want to run a Panda Activescan then it would be wise to post an up to date HJT log in the malware removal forum and get a malware removal expert's advice.
