I was here a couple times the past 2 months and didn't get responses, but never followed up as I was trying different things. I finally ordered all original software that came with the pc, unistalled/deleted all the games and stuff I never use (like I always do with a new install) and one-by-oneinstalled all updates, all software I normnally use, etc… and it even started slowing then. I run Diskeeper and Registry Mechanic. I also do daily scans with Zone Alarm and AVG and use Spybot once per week or so. I even tried a program called "Smoker XP" that seemed to help a little. I tried Tweak XP and it didn't help at all. Everything but MS has auto updates (I like to read those first when they pop up).
The clean install was a 2-3 weeks ago and immediately the boot times started getting slow. It takes about 30-60 seconds to boot with the largest delay coming between the Windows XP screen and the desktop. Then other programs/icons take another 15-20 seconds. After boot and a few minutes, pc seems to be fine and quick (as it should). Also, if anyone knows of or knows of a link I can go and find programs that aren't needed at Startup (and if that helps) please point the way. Thanks.
