Recently I had tried installing XP Home from an MSDN subscription (lost restore discs) and I had issues with drivers and other things. So basically I did a wipe of the HD (beyond DoD standards) so nothing was left. I ordered a set of discs from HP and did a clean install of all programs but the boot is hanging between welcome and the desktop. Things seem fairly smnooth after that.

I've run spywares (Zone Alarm, Spybot and AVG full version), did virus scans, registry cleaning and defragging, defragged HD with Diskkeeper and everything I cna think of to no avail. 99% of programs are on another partition and swap file has more than adequate space assigned.

I appreciate any info. Thanks.
