Lightning ran in through my internet connection and struck my computer… my computor will not turn on but the green light on the motherboard is still on… the power supply still works and there is a burnt spot on my modem processor. Is it best just to buy a new computer and if yes can i take my memory and hard drive out and put in the new computer.
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your computer. If you had a lightning strike and your surge suppressor failed or was not connected then the outlook could be bleak. If you have a competent local repair shop it might be best to get them to take a look. Sometimes you can salvage memory and depending on its type speed etc it may work in a new one, Hard drives always work (usually!) so its definitely worth saving as a back up. Regards paws
