OK….here is the deal. I use to use SBC Global, and had the whole security suite and parental controls and browser. I have uninstalled EVERYTHING. YET… when i tried to install new anti virus, it says that i still have sbc on my pc. I currently have NO anti virus on my puter, but sp2 tells me that it is installed but not turned on. I have went and deleted any reg entries that showed it, and in my add remove there are absolutly no yahoo/sbcglobal/att programs. PLEASE HELP… SBC has no idea how to help… Thanks so much in advance.
Download CodeStuff Starters, Here:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/starter.html

Run Starters
On the - Starters(tab) you will see the items presently active from StartUp list
Use the "File" icon - the Select "Save Plain Text" which will create a text file of those StartUp items.

Please copy/paste the Plain Text report in your next Reply here.

Next:

Let's find out if you have any sbc items that are disabled with selective start-up.
Go to - Start - Run - type "Notepad" without the quotes
Copy/paste the following blue text that appears below into a new notepad (not wordpad) document.
Make sure that wordwrap is unchecked.

regedit /a /e %systemdrive%\regkey.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig"
notepad %systemdrive%\regkey.txt
del /q %systemdrive%\regkey.txt

Go to the menu at the top of the Notepad file and Save as:

* Name the file mslook.bat
* Save as Type: All files (not as a text document or it won't work)
* Select the desktop icon on the left to save it on the desktop.

Locate mslook.bat on your Desktop and double-click it.

When notepad opens, copy/paste the content into your next reply in this thread.
When you close Notepad the CMD window will close automatically and the text file will be deleted.
___________

Next:
Open your System Configuration Utility (MSCONFIG)
Start - Run - (type)MSCONFIG - Enter
Select - Services(tab)
place a checkmark/tick in - Hide all Microsoft

You will now see only the Services that remain running that are third-party softwares.
Write down the list
(there is no way that I know to copy/paste or create a plain text report from MSCONFIG - services.
So you'll have to Physically write the items out on paper and then type them into your next reply)

Now are you all stumped? I sure know I am…. my sp2 still shows the SBC Anti Virus as being installed, but not turned on? HUMMMM????
alright, I did what Markka asked, but haven't heard back from her since I reposted my logs. Does her non response mean we are clear to move to a new problem, or will she tell me in writting that I am Clear?? Just curious how things normally work? I am still having the SBC problem, and another problem with my office, so I would like to be sure we are all on the same page. Thanks in advance, E
Hi moselbee, You're showing some good patience with us. Thanks. These things can take a bit of time, especially since we're all volunteers with multiple other obligations. I've sent in a consultation to Malware Removal to check on status. We'll take up with the work here, as we are able. Best Regards. Doug
