i re-installed the OS, i installed it in a new directory instead of the existing Windows directory. it shows 2 OS's when i boot up.
how do i delete the second OS system?

HJT log looks clean: LDT
Hi,
If it's just the boot menu you want to edit then you can do this by editing your boot.ini file.

Please be sure that you have made a back up of boot ini to an external source (a floppy disc will do fine as it is quite a small file), providing ,of course you have a FDD installed!)

If its the actual "duplicate" O/S you want to delete and assuming you have installed it on the same partition but in a different directory/folder then you can delete it by following the instructions here:

Before you do anything I strongly recommend that you back up/copy/archive all your important files/settings/registry/data and any important stuff, so it is 100% up to date. Even if your back up/copy archive is only a day or so out of date it would be wise to update it completely. Also make sure you have a note of all your license keys, and the original installation discs for your OS and Applications are kept somewhere handy.

Hi,
Just use your normal back up application.

Some folks find the file and settings transfer wizard very helpful.
To open the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard click:

Start >All Programs>Accessories>System Tools >Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
If you need a steer on the use of this utility the following link (courtesy of Rand1038) gives a full overview.

If you are not happy with your normal back up application then choose another one, or use Microsoft back up, full details here:

or you can just copy your stuff to CD/DVD and Zip it to save space, screen dumps or written notes are also helpful as long as you make the notes accurate!
or take a disc image using something like Acronis, Drive Image, Ghost, Paragon or similar disc imaging programmes.
Whatever you do just make sure it's complete, up to date and 100% reproducible!
