Hi! In trying to upgrade my operating system from windows 2000 to XP I have somehow installed both operating systems on one partition. My computer is giving me a choice at startup between the two. I would like to completely delete windows 2000 from the partition if that is possible. Thanks
insert xp disc, it will run thru setup. at some point it should ask you to set up xp press "some key"
it should then show the used space on the partition ( example:38225MB on a 40gb hd)
one option should be: to set up xp on the selected partition press "some key"
then a warning about the partition having another os on it
then "to continue installing on this partition press "some key"
this will reformat the exsisting partition including the w2k and xp install, totally wiping the drive. you would end up with a clean install of xp, anything that wasnt pulled off the hd would be gone.
if you went thru some kind of upgrade where xp was installed over w2k preserving settings/apps then forget this
