Greetings:
I'm having a serious problem with my computer, specifically the mouse. The mouse just seems to go 'dead' randomly during use, sometimes every few minutes, sometimes not for serveral hours of use. the only way to get it responding again is to physically unplug the usb connector from the computer, and plug it back in a few seconds later. This makes the mouse start working again, but the problem happens again and again. I've tried several different USB mice on this system, and all have exactly the same problem.
System:
OS: Winxp pro sp2
Mouse: Logitech MX510
Key: Logitech G15
Case: Thermaltake VD100BWS AgUILA SECC Black Case
CPU: Intel E6600 Core Duo 2 2.4G 4MB 1066G FSB
MB: Asus P5B
HDD: Seagate 320G SATAII 7200rpm 16M Cache
PSU: Thermaltake tough power 700W
RAM: 2 X SuperTalent 1G PC-6400 800 DDR2
Vid: XFX 8800GTS 640 pcie DDR3 PVT80GTHF9
Snd: X-FI XtremeGamer
DVD: Sony DRU-820A DVDR Dual/Double Layer
I've tried uninstalling the mouse software, and uninstalling the device from the device manager. Tried plugging the mouse into a powered USB hub, directly into the computer, and even with a PS/2 adapter. Same problem with all (except the PS/2 adapter, with that, the mouse will just occasionally go 'crazy'. wildly whipping around the screen and sending clicks without me doing anything, or any way to stop it)
I've tried updating the MB bios, scanning for adware/trojans/virii. Everything looks fine there.
I'm wondering if it's possible the mouse or usb drivers have become corrupt somehow? If anyone can offer any suggestions or help, I'd be very grateful. This is driving me insane!
