heres another prob. when i go to microsoft updates, using IE it goes to wanting to download somthing so it can update, after it downloads it says error. and never up dates. i installed SP 2 and that was the last time it was able to update. so i might just try to uninstall sp2 and reinstall it from my cd.

Sounds like you had a bad download. Good idea on the un-install / re-install from CD.
