Hi,
Sorry to hear the problem,
This is pretty serious stuff, when faced with this problem it is often quicker and simpler to reinstall windows than to try individual remedies. Here's a link to the Microsoft instructions on how to proceed:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?…b;en-us;Q315341
Note
I would print out these instructions before commencing and sign off each step to ensure that you do things correctly and observe the warning given.
If you wanted to try an individual solution then booting from your Windows XP installation disc, enter the Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r and see if this does the trick. (takes a couple of hours or so to run)
Note for each of the above methods you will need your Windows XP installation disc
(A manufacturer's "Recovery Disc" is NOT used for this procedure.)
Good luck
Regards
