As a footnote…all the web pages i visit flash purple before entering the site or the whole web page is purple. Hi shalane.

You appear to be running two real-time antivirus programs - AVG and AntiVir. This is a bad idea as it can cause conflicts and other problems. It is actually counter-productive: you get less protection, not more. Please uninstall one of them before doing anything else. Reboot your computer afterwards.

Please uninstall ewido security suite. This program has been replaced by AVG Anti-Spyware, which I am going to ask you to download later. If you had the the paid-for version of ewido, please see here for details of how to obtain your new license code.

Update Java Runtime:

You are using an old version of Java. Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason, it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date, and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system. The most current version of Sun Java is: Java Runtime Environment Version 6.
  • Go to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
  • Click on the link named Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
  • Click on the radio button to Accept License Agreement
  • Click on Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save the downloaded file to your hard disk
  • Go to Start => Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs
  • Uninstall all old versions of Java (Java 2 Runtime Environment, JRE or JSE)
  • Reboot your computer
  • Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java if present
  • Install the new version by running the newly-downloaded file, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Reboot your computer

HostsXpert

Download HostsXpert and unzip/extract it to your Desktop.
  • Double click on HostsXpert.exe to launch the program.
  • If you see red text in the box under Editing Tools:
    • Press the Make Hosts Writable? button
  • Press the Restore Microsoft's Hosts File button and OK
  • Click on Make Hosts Read Only to secure it against further infection.
  • Exit the programme.
——————————————-

Run HijackThis and click Scan and then check (tick) the following, if present (don't worry if any are missing):

O1 - Hosts: 66.98.136.25 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 66.98.136.25 auto.search.msn.es
O1 - Hosts: 66.98.136.25 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

O16 - DPF: {3A7FE611-1994-4EF1-A09F-99456752289D} - http://install.wildtangent.com/ActiveLaunc…iveLauncher.cab

Close down all programs, browsers and other open windows. Make sure that only the above items are checked and then click on Fix checked.
