This computer has a couple of trojans that most of the online scanners cannot automatically remove. So, if someone can be so kind as to look at this log and let me know what to delete I would really appreciate it. This computer is used for a home based business. Thank you.

Hello haaba01

For the well being of your PC the following should be done.
Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

You do not say how you came to know that Trojans are the problem, or which Program reported this to you. Please advise.

Please download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Ewido trojan scanner:
  1. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  2. When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  3. From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  4. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"), click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on the Start button. This scan can take quite a while to run, so time to go get a drink and a snack….
  5. If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select "clean" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" before clicking on OK.
  6. When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Please then paste the contents of the text file to this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.
  7. Please use the Post Reply function, so I will be notified.
Hi Piatan, thanks for getting back to me. The trojan that I had was called Dyfuca. I periodically run my computer thru all the Online Virus Scanners just to double check and I believe it was RAV that indicated that I had this trojan. I finally downloaded the beta version of Microsoft Anti-Spyware scanner and It found it and cleaned my computer. Thanks for the tip on ewido trojan scanner but do you know if this scanner will still run (without the added features) after the trial period ends? I'd like to keep it.

I've followed your directions listed below:

Hi haaba01

Regretably, I can't say whether ewido will run (and continue to be updated) after the free trial period ends and without continued updating it would not be advisable to use it. Guess you would have figured that out on your own.

Looks like your Hijack This log is clean.

Protection Recommendations:

If you dont have these three FREE programs I would recommend that you get them. Spywareblaster, Spywareguard and IESPY AD. They will add 1000's of sites to your resticted zone and block some hijacks from happening.

Also, if you have had Trojans, Viruses, etc on your system…………..

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK

Safe surfing. :wavey:
