Hi, Thanks for replying. Before I read your post I downloaded avast home edition av and ran it. There was a worm and two trojans. There were 28 infected file that I removed to the virus chest. After that I could run Ad-Ware SE and it showed 11 problems. It seemed very slow compared to my computer at home. I hope th Avast is not a problem. I ran the CCleaner which empties the recycle bin and here is the new log.

Please go HERE and do a online scan.
Let me know what is found.

After scan, reboot and post a new HijackThis log

Also let me know how the computer is running now.
Hi, I am sorry but I can not get the virus scanner that you recommended to work. I have tried it at least a half a dozen time and it will download the components and try to start scanning, then I get this message"An error has occured! Please close the scanner and your browser, then try again(ID:24)". I have shut down the computer time and again, which takes a long time to do and tried the program, it keeps doing the same. Here is log from the last time I rebooted.

It doesn't really look like it LE.

I suggest you do this:

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config…"
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntos.exe
C:\WINDOWS\geefed.dll

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete these Files if listed:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntos.exe
C:\WINDOWS\geefed.dll

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

See if you can do the scan now.
Hi, litte eagle is right. I did post a log back in Jan but I thought that it was history it was for a friend of mine in Alabama. I will follow up on it when I get home next week. I could not delete C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntos.exe. I get a message box that it is in use. I tried deleting it safe mode that did not work either, safe mode did work for C:\WINDOWS\geefed.dll. Neither file showed up on the HiJackThis open process file. The
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntos.exe is the only thing that keeps showing up after I click "Fix checked". The computer still boots slow but after that it seem to navigate a bit quicker. I have notice when I close a box from the task bar an End Now Box shows up like when you use the task manager to close a program. I use the Atf cleaner and tried the online scan again and received the same error message when preparing to scan(Step 4). Here it the latest log.

You can remove any programs I had you install. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there:

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D

So how did I get infected in the first place?
