Hi all. Dunno if I do have problems, but my major concern is that my Ad-Aware and Spybot sure seem strange on startup. AdAware always tells me to update, I check and it is up to date, and Spybot takes near a full minute to show on-screen, and seems very very slow trying to update. Few other oddities, but that's another story. Here's my hijack this log, and thanks. Rick

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleanerğ
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.

Hi LDTate, and thanks for your time. Here's the Malware log. By the way, would you suggest using this program and deleting my Adaware or Spybot? Is it any better than either of the two, or is it a problem to have all 3 installed? Thanks again. They all 3 do different things but IMO, the new Ad-Aware has issues. I really liked the previous SE version. The program I had you download and scan with is new so I don't know much about the other options you can get with it.

Do you know what this item is?

Hi again. This is kinda bizarre, but I followed that trail in regedit, if that gets me there, and I get down to "CurrentVersion\Internet Settings", then there are just 10 sub items in there, but no mention at all about this "Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = dynhost.inetcam.com;register.inetcam.com;" Puzzling. I wonder if this has something to do with a webcam, tho it is a puzzle as to why I don't see it.

Lets do this and then see how it's running.

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
Ad-Aware 2007

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = dynhost.inetcam.com;register.inetcam.com;
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Empty Recycle Bin

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
