Hi Chris,
if your machine was stable for a 3 day period with the minimal set up, and still OK with other " bits" added one by one then I would be inclined to give it a couple of extra days with this set up and load it up…get it working…. get it working hard! and see if it copes. If it does then you are right …there is light at the end of the tunnel.
If it misbehaves, you know the answer… remove one bit at a time and test under load and keep doing it until you have a completely stable system under a heavy load.
If your graphics card crashes your machine, despite having tried all the current and some not so current drivers, then its time to try another graphics card! Try to borrow one first and see how you go.
Let us know how you get on.

Paws,
Hope you are ok?
Still crashing after yet another reinstall, one new clue is that a second or so before the PC crashes an autoplay box appears. Any ideas what this is/or could be? I have minimal devices connected to the PC this time too.
The reason I have again reinstalled is because a couple of weeks ago I was sending a message online and somehow another person has been able to send one at the same time from my profile!!! I found the suspect message about 10 minutes later (and trust me on this one - I did not type it).
I thought I had a trojen and now I am 100% sure I have. I understand that when managing my PC it says an unknown error - driver problem, but I reckon that someone has managed to plant a nasty on the hard drive (is it possible that even after a full reinstall the suspect item could survive?).
Help please Paws
I hate this PC now lol
Hi Chris Ellis,
Paws is just fine, but away from the Forum temporarily.
You can learn how to deal with Trojans via some of the Self-Help tutorials available here at this forum.
Or you can get expert assistance by running and posting a HJT Log over into our Malware Removal forum.
Best Regards,
Doug
