i have removed it from h keys and tried to from add/ remove programs but it wont remove says the installation package cannot be opened.verify if package exists and that u can access it.or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package, lol whatever that means thats what it says when i try to remove it from add/ remove. i did go to hkey and remove it but guess i was told wrong. tyvm for answering plz help if u can tyty
Hello megans,

Removing the "h keys" (or registry entries) before uninstalling the application can leave your system without a method to uninstall the application. One thing you can try, which may seem counterproductive, is to reinstall AVG Free. This will put the registry entries back in place so that Windows knows how to uninstall AVG. After you reinstall, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall.

Once finished, you can check the registry for any remnants of the software, but be very careful when editing the registry, since you can delete important keys which could leave your system inoperable. I would suggest saving a backup of the registry before attempting to change it.

Ax
After you have deleted all you can regarding AVG you can then go to START>files or folders. Then click on files & folders in window that appears. then type in AVG and click on search. You can delete much of the left overs in the computer regarding AVG from here. Read each first so you know you are not deleting something you want to keep. Also you could search again if there is another name for AVG and see if anything else is in your computer. I used this technique to rid my computer of Norton when it kept so much in my computer even after I used the uninstall software feature. Good luck gene
