Hi, this is my first time using the forum so I appreciate the help…

Anyways, my PC is having some problems, which I assume are from spyware. While my homepage is fine, I am occasionally being redirected to other sites whenever I attempt to go to a website. This is not always the case, but it happens often. And it's happening on both IE and Firefox. Also, I am having audio problems. My iTunes cannot play a song without getting choppy, and this has only been a problem since the website redirecting issue came about. I ran Spybot S&D and found some spyware but nothing that fixed my problems. Well, here's my log. Best of luck, and thanks.

Hello DPUuser,

I recommend you print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{06FCEEC1-8AB9-405C-BC97-3AB7E6A39433}: NameServer = 85.255.114.99,85.255.112.229
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{210410CC-36DA-4948-991C-5CE8AD7D4399}: NameServer = 85.255.114.99,85.255.112.229
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.99 85.255.112.229
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{06FCEEC1-8AB9-405C-BC97-3AB7E6A39433}: NameServer = 85.255.114.99,85.255.112.229
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.99 85.255.112.229

Then close all windows except this one and press Fix checked.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new HijackThis log.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

Well it seems as if the website redirecting problem has been taken care of, but do you have any idea why my iTunes audio is still messed up? It hasn't done this until the other problem had began. Thanks
Hello DPUuser,

Looks like we are clean from the Wareout infection. Let's do a little more clean up and see if we can improve your performance.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which may be infected anyway).

Click Start>Help and Support>Undo changes to your computer with System Restore
Select Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create

Click Start>Run and type Cleanmgr
Click the More Options Tab.
Click Clean Up in the System Restore section.

Use ATF Cleaner to remove temp files, cookies, cache, ect…

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it.

Under Main select the following:
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Your Java Runtime Environment is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Enviroinment (JRE) 6, The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save it to your desktop (12.6 MB).
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially any web browsers.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windowsi586.exe to install the newest version.
Let me know if things get any better.
Regards,
Dave
Well I've done all the updates and such, but my iTunes is still screwed up. I'll probably just reinstall the program to see if that fixes it. Thanks for the help!
Hi DPUuser,

I recommend you run an online scan to see if we're missing anything.

Please go Here and do an online scan. Let it fix whatever is found to be infected.

Let me know what is found.

After scan, reboot and post a new HijackThis log

You can certainly try re-installing itunes. Just make sure you back up all your music first.

Regards,
Dave
