Okay ive finally decided to do something about my computer being such an annoyance. I have several problems including not being able to open task manager, not be able to download updates for norton anti-virus, for some weird s*** happening to my screen as blocks become stuck and being unable to go away unless i restart my computer and having an invalid boot.ini file (it aint as bad as it seems i can still boot my computer up its just a message when my computer boots) I want to focus on my task manager problem and work on the others later other wise ill get confused. Most of these problems started when i downloaded limewire which i am hating now i have uninstalled it and even that it couldnt do right because it only uninstalled half of the files so i had to delete the others manually. Also if this has any relevance when i run a p2p sharing program it doesnt like being closed as it would always restart once closed so being unable to close it was an annoyance or turn off the run on start up option. I have done full system scans with norton anti-virus and they detected nothing….. yeah right! So could someone help me please i have heard you need a program called Hijack so ill get onto runnin it and give you a log as soon as its finished. Also could any one post all the programs youll think i need in one post so i can download them all at once. Im gonna be busy this christmas…….
hi Computer Dying,

having a p2p app didnt cause your problem. i use limewire in windows myself. norton is the last antivirus application i would put on my computer. ok what to do?

do this– i dont know if you have any anti-malware apps so download install one of these, update it and do a system scan:

SuperAntiSpyware
Avg AntiSpyware
Spybot Search and destroy
Ad-Aware SE Personal edition
Microsoft Windows Defender
CounterSpy
———————————————————————–
after the above, go out and get hjt, scan with it and post a hjt log:
HJT:
* Downloads:
* Please make sure you have the latest version. HJT 1.99.1
* http://www.downloads.subratam.org/hijackthis.zip
* If you are unfamiliar with zip programs get HijackThis.exe here:
* http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe

* First put hijackthis into a permanent folder.
* Do this first - go to C: and create a new permanent folder.
Example C:\AntiSpyWare or C:\hijackthis
* This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong.
* Then put (or download - choose "save" not "run") the hijackthis.exe file in this folder.
If you downloaded a zipped HJT file unzip it to the permanent folder so you have C:\hijackthis\hijackthis.exe.
* Example of the wrong way:
C:\DOCUME~1\Name\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe
* Running hjt from the wrong folder may delay assistance as your helper will have to ask for a new log.

If in doubt use this link to get HijackThis.
Save it to your desktop and then double-click to run it.
It will install the program in c:\program files\HijackThis.

* Double click HijackThis.exe.
* Hit None Of The Above, just start the program.
* Hit Scan.
* When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
* Click that, save the log somewhere, and copy/paste into this thread:
a) The HJT log
——————————————————————————
PS:not all the problems you describe may be because of malware. if you have malware and we remove it the other problems may not disappear.

shelf life
alright thanks for the info ill get on downloading those apps but heres my hjt log i did it in safemode if it helps

hi Computer Dying,

ok thanks for the info——— heres what we will do:
first in "normal mode' we will uninstall some files if present. next you can boot into safe mode to do the rest. you might want to copy/paste the part about safe mode into notepad and save it to your desktop so you can read it in safe mode.

first: look in add/remove programs panel and uninstall if present:

need2find toolbar
war rock toolbar.
RX toolbar
timeSink

if not in the list dont worry about it.
next for xp to show all files:
FOr XP: on the desktop double click my computer,go to tools>folder options>view> then select "show hidden files and folders", then UNcheck "hide protected operating system files " also UNcheck "hide extensions for known file types" click apply to all folders, apply then ok
————————————————–
ok time for a reboot into safe mode, same way tap f8 key at a restart, chose first option safe mode:

once in safe mode:
scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked.
if you dont see some of these items, dont worry:

War Rock Toolbar located here: C:\Program Files

folder:
Need2Find located here: C:\Program Files

folder:
RXToolBar located here: C:\Program Files

folder:
TimeSink located here: C:\Program Files

still in safe mode do this also:
Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

hi Computer Dying, good. not sure what that folder is. if you want get a screen shot of the .exe's inside the folder and upload like the other two. i did see 1 or 2 things in the task manager screenshots- i thought supersantispyware would take care of them: TsadBot.exe update .exe boot into safe mode– bring up task manager and if you see TsadBot.exe in the list-click on it then select end process, next run super antispyware in safe mode. reboot normally, check taskmanager for tsadbot.exe again.
good news TSADBOT isnt there when i did the scan with superanti-spyware it picked up 74 pieces and that was with a quickscan ill be doing a full scan when i have the time because with norton it takes 12 hours to do a full one so it may be similar.

This mysterious folder "_" only contains application files nearly everyone ever opened i think cause 1 or 2 i recognize but most i dont because i got this computer second hand here are 2 snapshots one of the properties and where it is another just to show how many there are and what type they are.

hi Computer Dying, ok good. i say delete that folder. going by whats inside of it, it looks like someone used a filesharing app to download stuff to that folder. if norton takes hrs to scan you should consider getting another antivirus and dumping norton. shelf life
