I can't figure out if the results from a Spyware Doctor scan are valid.
I've run several spyware programs (Spy Sweeper, Ewido / AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Counterspy, and I just installed Javacool's Spywareblaster), and lots of junk was cleaned up, I think, but PC Detective still shows up. The text of the scan is as follows:
"Infection: The PC Detective
Location: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{2AEF36AD-AF81-4153-B158-86DB1996316E}\_78746359.EXE
and
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{2AEF36AD-AF81-4153-B158-86DB1996316E}\_7d452582.EXE
Risk Type: High
Description: The PC Detective is a monitoring software from SCES Software. It can run in stealth mode and capture all keystrokes, applications used, emails, chat sessions, instant messages and websites visited. It has 'Application Blocker' and 'Website Blocker', which can…"
Obviously, these two .exe's aren't findable, at least not for me. I've done a little reading online, and it seems there are as many positive opinions of Spyware Doctor out there as there are negative (re: false positives and such). I can't tell which arguments have more weight. (Also, are programs like the Registry Mechanic ever a necessary idea?)
