Hello, I ran Spybot and found smitfraud-C.toolbar888, which placed an exectuable file (revivalbat?) in my documents and settings folder. Spybot removed it and advised that I download and run process explorer, look under winlogon.exe, and remove any dll files placed by smitfraud. I'm not sure what those dll files would be labeled, so I did not remove anything. However, upon running Spybot again, smitfraud-C.toolbar888 does not reappear.

Here is my HiJackThis logfile, and I see there may be an issue at O20. Any advice on making my laptop safer would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Smitfraud-C.Toolbar888 is a false positive, you can forget it:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=8668

You have a very outdated Java program that is a real security risk, se this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=1…amp;postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\ <<< out of date

The only 020 in your log is valid: WgaLogon.dll

I suggest you remove these two items with HJT:
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe

Your HJT log looks fine except the the above suggestions. Smitfraud infections are often hidden from HJT, if you want a check to see if anything is there, follow the instructions in this link:
http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php
Run only the "Search" function:

Search:
Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Post the C:\rapport.txt amd I will take a look.

If you want a good scan to look for Spyware, follow these instructions, make sure you delete or at least quarantine what the program locates:
http://www.virusvault.co.uk/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/33/
Thanks to John McKenna for the tutorial, post the Report-Scan.txt and I will be glad to take a look.

Thanks…Phil
