Hi all,
My notebook computer was infected with Smitfraud-C.Toolbar 888. I was able to find a fix called Smitfraudfix program. I ran it under safe mode in Win XP Pro SP2. But the infection kept showing up during anti-spyware scan using SpyBot. Any help would be great. Thanks for your time.
Here is my Hijack this log and Smitfraudfix log

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!
Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljhggf.dll

Then hit Submit
The scan will take a while before the result comes up so please be patient.
Then copy the result and post it here in this thread.

If Jotti's service load is too high, you can use the following scanner instead:

In your next reply I would like to see:
  • A new HJT log
  • The Vundo
  • The Jottis and/or virus total
Hi there,
FIY, I ran the VundoFix myself, twice, the day before. I ran one more time yesterday as you instructed(log included below). It did not find any bad files though.
The acowvawe.dll is in the VundoFix backup folder. And it has renamed to acowvawe.dll.bad. I did not find mljhggf.dll on my system.
Thank You

Ok not bad.

Navigate to and delete

C:\WINDOWS\ereg.dat

C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\SmitfraudFix.exe
C:\SmitfraudFix

desktop/vundofix.exe

We are deleting the smitfraud and Vundo files because that fix is updated often. So if you need them it is better to have the latest version.
