You guys are amazing. You helped me out of a terrible fix, like 2 years ago, and now, here I am again, with this Trojan haunting me. I am computer litererate enough to know where I'm going and what I'm doing and to follow instructions, but the one frontier that still frightens me is computer security! This is a "new" computer I'm on, and it's been acting weird of late and just today, it had a mind of it's own…opening IE, like, 40 times in a row!

I only have AVG and Ad-Aware installed. I can't remember the other programs you guys will probably want me to have downloaded.

I did an AVG scan and it came up with this: Trojan horse BackDoor.Bionet.CH

The program "couldn't" delete it, so now what? It's sitting in my Virus Vault, at the moment, leisurely enjoying it's accomodations, and I want it evicted!!! :rant2:

So…um, help???

Here's my HJT log:

Welcome back to Tom Coyote, sorry for the delay but we are just swamped. Lets do two things, I need you to post a new HJT log because your current one is incomplete, I dont even know if your using the latest version.

Go to where you have HJT installed and delete the entire folder, use the link in my signature to download and install version 1.99.1. You can download it to your desktop , click on the icon to install it and it will by default unzip to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis....this is exactly where we want it.

Now I need you to right click on the HJT Icon and rename it Analyse.exe, run the scan and post a new log. Do it this way.

Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad, go to Format and make sure WordWrap is unchecked, then to Edit> Select All…..Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread.
Okay, here's the new HJT log. I had version 1.99.1 installed, but I went ahead and deleted it and reinstalled a "new" one…you know…just in case.

haypor,

you still have not renamed HJT to Analyze.exe. you need to go here C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe <– Right click on the HJT Icon, it looks like a little stick of dynamite attached to a plunger, just right click on it and then click on Rename and type it Analyze.exe.

You need to disable Spyware Guard as it may interfere with the fix.
  • Double click on the Red SG Icon in your system tray.
  • Go to Options and remove the Three security checkmarks.
  • OK your way out of the program
Dont forget to re enable this when we are done fixing your computer

You also need to right click on WinPatrol on your system tray and shut down the program as it may stop us from fixing some entries.

Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove WeatherBug, its known to bring bad stuff with it. You would be better off using the free tool from the weather channel.

Open HJT Scan Only, close all open windows and your browser, check these and click on Fix Checked.

I really need to see a new log with HJT renamed as I am not seeing anything now that would be causing you pop up windows.

Post a new HJT log and let me see the AVG report.
Hi Ken,

Sorry about the misunderstanding…I thought you meant rename the icon on my desktop. But I finally figured it out…I hope I did it right this time.

I fix the checked items you had me.

Weatherbug was installed on the computer when we got it from my Mother in Law, and I had deleted the program early on. Not sure why it was still showing up in the log.

Ran AVG Anti-Spyware in SAfe mode and it found, like, 9 items, which were deleted.

Cleaned system.

Here's my new log:

Edited to add: What do I do with this Trojan sitting in my Virus Vault in AVG?
Haypor :D

You got it right, sorry for the confusion, I do this in my sleep and assume everyone else is on the same page :D

All the bad things are gone from your HJT log  I really needed to see the report from AVG.

You can do this, open up AVG Anti Spyware and go to Reports and click on Save Report , it should open in Notepad, copy and paste the report into this thread for me to see. Its important that I see these reports because if your still having problems and your HJT log looks clean, these reports may reveal something that is hidden that we are not seeing on HJT.

Then while in AVG Anti Spyware, go to the Quarantine folder and remove everything thats in there.

Just to make sure everything is gone, I need you to run this free online virus scanner from Panda, it won't clean anything but I need to see the report.

Panda ActiveScan <<

So….let me see the AVG report and the Panda Report
Here's my Panda scan:

This is the virus I caught last week and is still sitting in my virus vault, that I don't know what to do with. Yes, I know I got this from a download. I was one of those DOH moments. And here's my AVG REport:

AVG Anti Spyware found just cookies

Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vunerable. Update your Java:
  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Add-Remove Programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment)

It should have an icon next to it:

    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • The current version can be downloaded from Sun here:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 and press the Download' button. On the new web page, click the Accept License Agreement' button.
Then select 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' in the Windows Platform
area just below the Accept button.

Can you post one last HJT log and let me look it over to make sure nothing has come back.
I went to the AVG Free Virus Vault and the only options are Wipe objects and Restore object. The Heal option is not available. It says Wipe Object means to remove it from the Virus Vault, but not necessarily from the system. ???
