I found this forum last night and have been reading all the posts. I think you guys and gals are super I have a Folder, Google, with another folder in it, Google earth, and another folder in it, res, with a file that is a "square". No file name, and 0kb in size. Nothing I have tried will delete this folder or file. I have tried the following, Ad Aware, Killbox, AVG anti-spyware, spybot S&D, and a few others. I found this as part of a "Cleanup" of my puter I am doing because of numerous BSOD's an uncommanded reboots. I have followed most of the advice given to others that have had simular problems and it seem to have taken care of that but would like to hear from the "Experts" on the Folder issue.
Thank You,
Chopperdoc
Hey, it's even more worrisome that Killbox didn't do the trick for you….. even with delete on Re-Boot?
So give this little (free) gem a try. http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Many folks have never heard of it, but I'm sure the Experts have and have used it. It is well received and well reviewed.
Read the whole webpage regarding use of Unlocker.
The most Recent version updates are linked for download at the bottom of the page.
Dough,
Thanks for the speedy response…..I d/l'ed the progy you linked me to and ran it but it didn't remove the folder even with delete on reboot. I'm not going to worry about that though now. I thought I had fixed the BSOD and rebooting problem but their back. Not sure whats causing it. My GPU temp is a little high (140f), but I have no other issues with the video card. Runs games fine! I believe I have a corrupt win XP install. I'll do a HJT log and submit it to the other forum just to be sure, but I'm not holding out much hope that its a virus or spyware.
Thanks again,
Chopperdoc
Hi Chopperdoc,
While you are waiting for your turn in the Malware Forum, open up that case and blow out the dust bunnies with a can of compressed air. Make sure that you get the CPU Heatsink and the GPU heatsink good and clean so you can see no dirt or debris clogging those cooling fins.
Make sure all the heatsink fans and case fans are spinning vigorously.
140(f) is "a little more" than "a little" too hot!
Best Regards.
Just finished recleaning the fans and case…I keep all pretty clean. Hopefully, They will find a software problem that can be fixed to solve my issues. I'm amazed at the amount of Technicial Experience in this Forum.
Thanks
