program install/run from cd issue

could somebody tell me what "modular setup exe @ 001:295c" means? it shows up when trying to run/install program from a cd. have tried 3 different programs & all 3 have showed same issue. Its on my moms pc.(she's 70 & doesnt know a lot about it) not sure what brand. updated from windows 2000 to XP last yr. if someone could point me in right direction…or suggestions. could it be video card prob? or cd drive prob? or even out of date windows updates? any help would be greatly appreciated

A few considerations, but not enough information yet to narrow it down. Is the CD unit showing any Warnings in Device Manager? What operating system? Have you updated the operating system? What Brand, model of Machine - post the actual Model identification. What makes you think it might be related to video card? How much "Free Space" is on the Hard Drive. Check unnecessary application and processes in StartUp menu. Have you used Disk Cleanup? Have you used Disk Defragment What other "symptoms" have been noted? Have you Scanned for Virus? Have you Scanned for Spyware? Have you run System File Checker? Have you opened the case to clean out dust bunnies and assured that fans are spinning freely and connections and PCI cards are firmly seated? What 3 different programs? Are you helping your Mother by remote or will you be the hands-on person effecting the repair? Best Regards

Hey Dough! i know im short on info. thought maybe error would lead to clue, anyway….. no warnings from device man. OS..p3 or 4. windows XP home pc was taken to pc tech in spring of 06. assumed they updated OS? *shrugs* pc is gateway-EV700 free space 14.2gb statrt-up apps & proc….will have to check next time I'm up home. just had phone conversation…mentioned about disk clean & defrag. also about AVG (593 days out of date) & ad aware scan (also 500+ days out) *frowns* also mentioned to get windows updates. other than that….about all she can do on her own. (she made step by step list for above procedures) if probs persist….will have to check next time visiting parents. 3 diff. programs….1 was pic & post card progam from wal-mart. other 2 are bible study giudes for dad. Tx for info & list! didnt think of obvious solutions. when prob solved…will post repair procedure/solution. Have a GReat Week!
