Hey all :wavey: I recently had some spyware on my computer which was giving me popups and seemed to be lagging my computer up a bit and after several scans in safe mode and out of safe mode with every spy ware and anti virus scan I seemed to have gotten rid of it. Atleast thats what I think, because none of my new scans show any files as corrupt other than tracking cookies that I pick up.

Yet somehow still some problems remain. That problems being that my windows firewall turns off on its own as does my norton anti virus 2005 its also been showing programs running in the back ground when I go to shut down my pc saying that the programs arent responding. Even though nothing shows in scans and the popups have now gone I still feel as if though there is something on my computer hindering it severely. I also seem to be loosing my connection to the net every now and then as well it just lags and then comes back, which it didn't do before. So hopefully you guys can help me out.

Here's the hijack log.

I'm still having issues with frequent disconnects and norton seems to still be turning off and on along with the windows firewall still. I'm thinking maybe I accidentaly deleted something that I wasen't supposed to with the adware scans because hardware wise everything seems to be fine. Thanks a ton for the help however.
You need another firewall other than the one Windows provides.

It can stop some things from getting "in", but does nothing about things already "in" getting "out".

There are links to free firewalls here:

Securing Your PC After An Attack

The disconnect may be an AOL problem.

I used to have AOL.

If you uninstall it, it dumps your favorites, saved mail, etc, into a folder on the desktop.

But when you re-install, it won't automatically put it back for you. You have to do that "manually", and I don't remember how.

But, that might solve your disconnects… Then again it might not do a thing for you.

I have links to malware scanners, if you're interested.

I don't know what you've already tried.
:)
I also have a hardware fire wall which was a bit too harsh and would block out almost everything but I will probably get another one one the one's mentioned. As for the malware scanners Ive done the trend micro scan as I said before I have norton and have done several full system scans also with ad aware se, ewido anti-spyware and Spybot Search & Destroy. All of them pretty much come up clean other than the few non threatning cookies. I haven't uninstalled aol in ages so not sure how as to that would affect it I don't connect with it either just use it for mail and aim.
LOL.. You've already used up my "quiver of arrows"…. If they haven't found much, I don't know what else I could recommend. You don't need AOL installed to use AIM. My Daughter just signed up for AIM this past weekend, and we don't have AOL installed. :)
