I get a popup on startup that says I am missing "ibm00001.exe"

also, I don't know if it is related or not, but my AIM will not sign on.

Thank you in advance for your help

Hello and welcome to the forum. There is a very good chance that is what it is:
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojtorpigc.html
Turns off anti-virus applications
Steals information
Downloads code from the internet
Reduces system security

You also have this one: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojagentfg.html You need to take the time to read all of the information so you will know what these trojans have done to your computers security so you will know what you have to do to recover.
I would say reinstalling all security programs and changing all passwords would be a beginning.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://bfc.myway.com/search/de_srchlft.html

(if you are sure the next one is safe, you can leave it)
O8 - Extra context menu item: &AOL Toolbar Search - c:\program files\aol\aol toolbar 3.1\resources\en-US\local\search.html
O21 - SSODL: DCOM Server - {2C1CD3D7-86AC-4068-93BC-A02304BB8C34} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dcom_21.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(these files may be gone, just DO NOT miss them)

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe <<< file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dcom_21.dll <<< file

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log along with any comments you think will help.

Your Java program is very outdated: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\ if you are gone to run Java, you must keep it up to date:

First of all, thank you very much for your help and time. I know that everyone that has to deal with this stuff really appreciates what you do.

I followed the directions you gave me with limited success. Here's what happened…

-The R0 - HKCU\software\microsoft\internet explorer\main,local page = was not present when I ran the HT system scan

- Windows defender would not let me disable the real-time protection. Everything on the options menu was light grey and unable to be changed. I could see the check box you were talking about but I couldn't uncheck it. I'm not sure why.

-the two files that you had me delete were not there. I did a search for them as well just to make sure.

-When I started HT, I got a message that said "for some reason your system has denied write access to the host file" and it would not save the log, so I had to save it to my documents instead of the hijack this folder.

-when I restarted I still had the popups and it appears that the things that you had me check off for deletion in HT are back :(

-I went to that site that you posted about my java program and it said that it is important to delete the old versions of java, but when I went to the add/remove programs thing on the control panel it would not let me delete it. It's called "java 2 runtime environment, se v1.4.2_03" and there is no "change/remove" button when I click on it.

-thanks again for your help!

Let's talk a bit, first I can not do this for you. I am assuming this is your computer and you are the administrator. I am giving you the information I have given many times before and it has to be executed, if you want the junk off of the computer.

I can tell you that you have more infections now than you did in your last log, so you must keep this computer offline until it is clean. I can only think that windows defender is the reason why you could not ececute the directions. That is what it does, blocks changes, and you must make the changes. If you can't follow the directions to disable it, then uninstall it until you are clean and then install it again, it is free.

This program: C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Hacker\KAVPF.exe could also be the problem, turn it off until you are done.

Once Windows Defender is either disabled or uninstalled and Kaspersky Anti-Hacker is also either disabled or uninstalled, then proceed like this:

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.

I knew you could do it, you just had to take ownership of the computer and make up you mind you were going to chase the junk off of it, good job
That's a clean HJT log and here is information from some of the best in the business to help you stay that way.
Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

(make sure you do this, this is important)
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Be careful, it's a cyber-jungle out there :wavey:
