hmm…it shouldn't be. I just tried downloading from it. Did you try right clicking it and selecting "save link as" ?

otherwise, just do this:

  • Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
  • Name the file as resetTeatimer.bat

Should I not re-activate TeaTimer? Is it bad to use (a back door for malware to preserve itself?), or is it as useful in preventing outbreaks as I thought it was?
It's a good program, but right now it needs to be disabled until we can finish cleaning up your system. After your system is all clean, I'll have you enable the program again.
alright sounds great, here we go. Thanks again.

Update Java
  • Go to Start » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs.
  • Search for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment…. )
It should have this icon next to it: [external image: Posted Image]
  • Click that entry and then click on the Change/Remove button.
  • Then download and install the newest version of Java from here.

How's your PC behaving? Let me know in your next post.
Alright, I'm now updated to Java 5.0 Update 7. Everything seems to be running just fine (I noticed that after running a Kaspersky virus scan, even though it didn't catch/have to fix anything, IE stopped working again, but all I had to do, without even a restart, was run the IEfix.exe again, and everything is great) and there don't seem to be any problems. Here is another Hi-Jack This! log just incase you want to see it. Thanks again for all the help and effort you have provided, I really appreciate your assistance.

This is my post for when your computer is all clean - which it currently appears to be. Please let me know if you are experiencing any other problems with your computer.

If you are not having any more problems, we have just a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

Re-Enable Spybot S&D (Teatimer)

1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Check "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.

It's a good idea to Flush your System Restore points after ridding yourself of malware:
  • Click Start | Help and Support | Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.
  • Click Create A Restore Point then click Next. Give it a name it and then click Create, then Close.
  • Close the Help and Support Center box.
  • Click Start | Run and type Cleanmgr
  • Select (C: ) then click OK.
  • Click the More Options tab.
  • Click Clean Up in the System Restore Section.
This will remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
To keep your operating system up to date visit
  • Microsoft Windows Update
monthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scannersweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Have a safe and happy computing day!
