Hi

I am suddenly getting pop-ups when using the Internet, despite having a pop-up blocker and good anti-virus software, plus EWIDO. Problem appears to coincide with a large number of links in my Favourites that all point to a website called Open Search Web. If I right-click on these links, I cannot delete them, not are they visible if i click on organise. Searching the Internet showed the problem may be down to Messenger Plus which has apparently been installed on the PC without our knowledge. I tried to uninstall and it gave an error saying the sponsor could not be completely deleted. Can you help me get rid of these "beasties" please?I have run Hijack this and the log is pasted below:-

Just as you called it….

You have a LOP infection from MessengerPlus!

MessengerPlus - third party MSN Messenger extension that adds a number of useful features. Bundles the hard to remove C2Media LOP adware; the software does offer you a choice during setup: make sure to install MessengerPlus WITHOUT that "sponsor program"!

Before we do a "brute force" 'uninstall', let's peek at what's available to be "uninstalled". We might get lucky and see what we're looking for in there.

Run HijackThis!

Click the "Open the Misc Tools section" Button.

Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.

Click the "Save list…" Button.

Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.

Looks good.

If you have other user accounts, can you make/post a log file from each account?

LOP can infect other user accounts, and will worm it's way back to this one if we don't get rid of it everywhere.

If no other accounts are present, I'd say you're "good to go", unless you're having a problem not evident in the log.

:)

Post Infection Items To Ponder
Micah No other accounts so we are all clear. I now have a "happy" PC with no pop-ups and it's alot faster too! Thank you very much for all your prompt help. :D Avril and family!
