Recently, I have gotten the following errow when trying to log on to Windows.
Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

After 30 seconds, I am logged on with some of my icons on the desktop, but not all of them. Also, some programs appear when I go to Control Panel/Add/Delete Programs, but they are not in the Start Menu/Programs list. I have to search for them in order to access them. I have logged on as Administrator in Safe Mode. This is Hijack Report. I am lost and not sure what to do. I seem to have most of my files, but I need to restore my start menu options and everything like it originally was.

Have you considered simply using the "System Restore" function to restore your machine to a date before this problem started appearing?

If you do use System Restore, and everything works the way you had wanted, then run for a few days to a week to assure yourself that everything stays the way you want it.

Then clear your System Restore Points, and create a New System Restore Point.

Please Note: We do not analyze HJT Logs in this Forum.

Your version of HJT is "old".
If you do eventually decide to use HJT, You can download the current version of HJT.exe here:

I tried to do system restore, but apparantly system restore had been turned off. What happens is I get to the "Welcome" screen but cannot see my name. This it message that I get: Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off. After 30 seconds, windows logs me on where I can see SOME of my downloaded programs but not all. Notepad pops up and this is the line that notepad has in it. [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787
I just want to keep my programs and documents that I have downloaded and saved. I can only access certain stuff when I log on in Safe mode as network administrator
I decided to delete my user profile. Since coming up with a new one, Windows now goes straight into my desktop without having me to click on a username or anything. This looks just like the TEMP profile that Windows was giving me. It has most of my programs in the program list, but some of them I have to search for, as well as my files. This is still popping up in notepad when I am on windows: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

Hi NoBull,

This is still popping up in notepad when I am on windows:
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

This can be really easy or a real head scratcher.

Most often it appears because the user has Windows Explorer configured to "Show Hidden and System Files"

Check that setting first.

Next, You might also benefit from using System File Checker to scan for missing or corrupt Windows Operating System files.

GoTo:
Start - Run - (type) sfc /scannow

A DOS window will pop open and shut real fast and then a windows-type System Diagnostic screen will appear with a "progress bar" scrolling across the bottom as SFC scans through your System Files.
If SFC identifies a corrupt or missing file, it will call for your installation CD to copy the origninal file to replace into your file structure.

If SFC doesn't find anything, you haven't lost or changed anything and are now sure that your System Files are not corrupt, so you can go on to other steps to investigate if your problem still persists.

Reminder: We do not analyze HJT Logs in this Forum.

Best Regards
Actually, any XP installation CD will work with SFC. You won't be required to register/validate/enter Product ID, because SFC will only scan for and copy any specific file it finds missing or corrupt. Therefore, you "could" borrow an XP CD for SFC purposes. Is your machine "pre-Loaded" with a backup Partition D:\ ?? If so, you can direct SFC to that location when it looks for a replacement file.
