Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 2:45:16 PM, on 7/29/2007 Platform: Windows 2000 SP4 (WinNT 5.00.2195) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) My technical experience is slight. I've checked my Profiles and User Groups which both appear to be O.K. When the Administrator Log on is used, instead of bringing up the Administrator desktop, it brings up a User desktop. The system therefore won't allow me to install new security software, or any software that is enabled to actively affect the Registry. Desparately need HELP!!!! PLEASE.
Hi, Sorry to hear of the problem with your machine. You will need to log on to an account with Administrator priviliges, at the account name type in ,Administrator, and enter your password. You may need to try this a number of times before you are sucessful. So be prepared. If you cannot get in with admin priviliges then its time to check that your back up/archive/copy of all data, files, settings is 100% up to date, correct and reproducible. A fresh install of your Windows 2000 operating system may be required although there are several workarounds that are possible, but you will need some degree of technical knowledge to be able to perform then correctly. A trip to your local competent computer tecnician may be sensible, but be aware that he/she may require you to prove that you are entitled to access the computer and its files with Admin priviliges before they agree to help you. Regards paws
