[furore]

Hi Everyone,

I 've always tried to be very careful with my computer and I'm not sure what happened but I started getting these pop-ups:winfixer.com; winanitviruspro.com; and adultfriendfinder.com. Now I have no clue what to do. I've run Trend Micro Anti virus and Spysweeper and NOTHING changed...I don't get it. I see people post the hijack stuff on here so here is mine. I REALLY hope someone can help.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.

  Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
  
  http://www.ewido.net/en/
  
  Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files.
  
  Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  1) Restart your computer
  2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
  
  Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.
  
  Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
  
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt.

Thanks for the suggestion! I followed the recommended stesp and here are the results of HiJackThis, vundofix, and Ewido. Please advise if there are any other steps I need to take.

Thanks again. I followed all the steps and everything is back to normal...still can;t figure out how the spyware ended up on my computer with all the scans running continously Thanks!

The infection that you had is thought to come through on a issues with java. If you have not updated to the latest version this may be the cause of it.

Sun Java has updated to remove 5 known critical issue.

It is important to remove older versions as these are the ones with the holes in them. You will be surprised when you go to add/remove to see all of the versions sitting there.
