adaware blue screen of death

Although I consider myself a cautious "surfer" I appear to have at least "winfixer" and probably more. I run McAfee anti-virus, firewall and adaware personal. I am getting the winfixer pop-ups. When I attempt to do a smart scan in adaware, I get a system fatal error, system shuts down and gives me the infamous blue screen of death. I have downloaded Hijack this but have not yet unzipped it. Major video problems first started after I attempted to upgrade Total access tools from earthlink. I appear to be able to get into safe mode and normal mode. What now?

I have run Virtumundobegone, Adaware (sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't), McAffee and Ewido.

If I switch users, often times Internet Explorer will not work on the second user unless I shutdown and restart, then it will work for the first user again.

hi mtv75, log looks ok to me. you might try running ad aware and ewido in safe mode (check for updates first) dont know if the other Vundobegone runs in safe mode. might want to copy/paste this to notepad then save it somewhere so you can read it in safe mode. you reach safe mode by tapping the f8 key during a computer restart. chose the first option that comes up, safe mode. once in safe mode run those tools, then do this: start>settings>Control Panel> click the Internet options icon Next: Click on Delete Cookies. Click on Delete Files, Make sure Delete all offline content is checked and then click on OK Then click on Settings, then click on View Files if there is any thing in there, delete it. (edit>select all— then file>delete) Then at the top in the address bar, at the end where it says: \Temporary Internet Files change it to \Temp then hit enter and delete whats in there —————————————————– prefetch: Go to: Start> Run And type this in: C:\windows\prefetch Once this is open Delete everything in the folder, not the folder itself ————————————————– click start->settings->control panel->internet options->programs tab->RESET WEB SETTINGS ————————————————- reboot normally, see if anything improves……………shelf life

(edit>select all— then file>delete)

Then at the top in the address bar, at the end where it says:

\Temporary Internet Files

change it to \Temp then hit enter and delete whats in there

Shelf Life,
There was no address bar, just a title header so not sure of complete path to change Temp Internet Files to Temp. Other than "switch user" not working, IE seems to be working OK.

hi mtv75, log looks good, ewido came up empty also. you might try this instead: Click Start>Run then type %temp% Hit OK. Delete all the files you can and: Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove: Temporary Files Temporary Internet Files Recycle Bin
