Hi , I recently followed the Tom Coyote instructions with the AlwaysUnloadDLL in the registry,, since then i'm having problems at boot up , is there instructions on how to reset to default again, if there is i'll try that first an see if that is my problem ,, Thanks ,, Snowy ,, land down under … :wavey:
MrCharlie ,, Thanks for the reply, i created it manually , actually i did the same when i had 98se , no problem then ,,, anyway i did an sfc /scannow as well as a system restore back to 26/1/06 which was before i did the reg change .. When i booted this morning problem was gone ,, not sure if either one did the trick ok , so i will keep my fingers crossed,, so all ok for now though. If there is a way of restoring the reg after the manual change i'll put the info along with the reg change for future reference ok ,, cheers,, Thanks again , Snowy, :D
Sorry you had a problem but I don't think it was from the reg tweak.
It's be around since the days of 98 and have never heard of any problems with it.
But you can never say never!
Anyway here's a link to a download of the AlwaysUnloadDLL reg tweak.
All you have to do is download, double click on it and allow it to merge into the registry and you're done! No going into the registry!

AlwaysUnloadDLL reg tweak

Now to undo it - do this:

Copy and paste the text below in blue into notepad and save it as fix.reg and make sure the "Save as type" field says "All files". (make sure REGEDIT4 is right at the top of notepad)
Save it to your desktop

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\AlwaysUnloadDLL]

Now just double click on it and allow it to merge into the registry and it will delete the AlwaysUnloadDLL reg tweak.

Hope that helps, Good Luck - MrC
