Right click anywere in open area of desktop.. click "create shortcut"..In the "Type the Location of the Item" box, type shutdown -s -t 0. …Make sure theres a space after "shutdown"..After "-s"…and after "-t".. After your through click on the shortcut and see if that makes a difference.
Then you need to uninstall and reinstall the software that has the application that will not end.

(if you'll look through FreshUI, you'll see a setting that will be located around the "Stack Dump" setting that will allow you to control the length of time it takes before Windows regains control. That is what you need to set)
i checked taskmaster before shutting down and it didn`t show any applications running. i went through freshui, and either i`m blind, dense or both, i couldn`t find anything relating to the stack dump settings. i enabled " auto end applications" but it didn`t help. just want you to know how much i appreciate your help. please don`t give up.
i just noticed that the enevlope icon in front of my post has a black seal on it. does that mean iv`e been blackballed because my problem is a hopeless case?. if so please let me know so i can explore some other options. thanks for your suggestions.
