Hello:

Having problems with my IE. Every time I click on a link from an email or I try to right click "Open in New Window" or even "Restore Down" on IE, the page goes to minimize automatically. When I try to click the IE in the taskbar, it shows it trying to open to view, but disappears in the middle of my desktop. The only way I can view IE is to right click the page from the taskbar & hit maximize. I have copied the list from Hijackthis thinking something is causing this to happen to my IE. I also reinstalled IE to, but that didn't help. Please help…

Try the following:

Copy the bold to Notepad, and save as Window.reg. Save as "all files".
Now doubleclick Window.reg, and answer yes when asked if you want it's contents added to the Registry.

Subsequently, you need to reboot.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Window_Placement"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Old WorkAreas]
"OldWorkAreaRects"=-

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU]

After rebooting, start IE, right click any link on a web page, and select Open in a New Window.
Go back to the first IE window you opened and close it.
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen.
(Do not use the maximize button, for that's a temporary setting that will not be retained.)

Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button depressed, using 'close' in the File menu (important!).

This should force Windows to remember the settings, and windows will now open maximized.

Good luck,
I have tried this to. Below is what I merged successfully. The only difference is the REGEDIT4 vs. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Window_Placement"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Old WorkAreas]
"OldWorkAreaRects"=-

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU]
You know, this ought to work: it removes all references to previous Window sizes from the Registry, and I've always known it to do the job. After doing everything I advised you to do, do this: Maximize that minimized window again. Now Rightclick it's title bar, and chose "Restore". Now you'll be able to grab, say, the top right corner of that Window and resize it just a little bit. Now press the Ctrl button, and close this second window, holding the Ctrl button depressed, again using 'close' in the File menu. Now try another hyperlink and tell us how that goes.
You can try an IE repair Input the followin gin the RUN line: rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance Choose the repair option and reboot when prompted…

Hello:

Every time I click on a link from an email or I try to right click "Open in New Window" or even "Restore Down" on IE, the page goes to minimize automatically. When I try to click the IE in the taskbar, it shows it trying to open to view, but disappears in the middle of my desktop. The only way I can view IE is to right click the page from the taskbar & hit maximize.

When you right-click the button on the taskbar, are "size" and "move" options? If so, play around with those using the arrow keys on the keyboard. I'd experiment with "size" first. That window might be off the screen or on the screen at some VERY small size (1x1 pixels?)

Don
