Please help. My Internet Explorer will only run in safe mode. When I log on normally, IE will load then immediately crash. Sometimes if I log off and switch between users (I have two user accounts) it will run. If I re-boot, it will crash again. I have to reload IE from the Windows System folder as user #1, then switch to the user #2 to use IE. It seems which ever user I re-load IE under cannot use IE, only the other user. Please advise, I don't have any hair left to pull out! Attached is my Hijack Log.

Click Config –> Misc Tools –> Delete an NT service

In the Delete window, type SvcProc and press OK.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

c:\windows\system32\ks4sgx.exe <— file

c:\windows\vgftcmegtc4gv2hpdgua <— FOLDER

datel.exe <— file

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\dipi.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

There is a good chance that this may not remove everything.
Thanks for the reply Micah_6:8. I followed your instructions. After doing so, I was able to log on to the internet with both users which I have set up. Here is the new log.

I'm glad to hear we are making progress in the right direction.

A new unknown has shown up.

Please disable THGuard.exe before attempting these fixes. It can interfere with what we are trying to accomplish.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [H0spRWa9g] d2hpdmod.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

d2hpdmod.exe <— file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

201517

The log looks good now.

The "O16" lines are active-x components loaded on your machine by various web sites. They are safe to "fix" if you do not recognize them.

If you go back to whatever place loaded them, they will just get reloaded.

I'd like for you to do the following to be as sure as we can that all the "bad" things are gone. Sometimes "bad" things hide where Hijack This! doesn't look.

Please download and run Spybot-Search&Destroy and Ad-Aware; they are the standard programs for finding and cleaning malware off your system. Here are links to both programs, and instructions for their use.

Get Spybot - Search & Destroy from Spybot Search and Destroy
(This is the NEW Version 1.4)
Get AdAware SE Personal from Lavasoft
(This is the NEW Build 1.6)

Download and install these programs if you don't already have them. If you do have them, make sure they are UPDATED AND CONFIGURED AS DESCRIBED here:

Configure Adaware

Configure Spybot

Reboot after running each program.

Try this online virus scan:

Trend-Micro Housecall

Choose "fix" or "clean".

Let it remove any infections found.

Reboot.

If none of these programs find anything they can't deal with, then you're "good to go".

If an unresolvable problem is found, please post again in this thread with the details.

GOD bless you!!!

M68 :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?"

Download/install IE-Spyad

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings at Qualsys.com

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

I have AdAware and it is up to date. I will try Spybot S&D, as well as your other suggestions. Thank you so much for the help - Numbers_6:24-26. If I have additional difficulties, I'll let you know.
