Hijackthis

Having downloaded HiJackThis twice on two different computers;

I am still unclear as to the procedure when downloading and setting up HiJack This.

Both computers had HiJack this with a wrong path according to SBS&D.

Win98 got DL and unzipped to MyDocuments?

Win XL got DL to MyDocuments and appeared as a folder with a belt (strap and buckle) around it ?
The HiJack this exe icon looking like a web page ( not stick of dynamite) inside of a folder (in my Documents)?

The WinXL had to be restored and havent DL HiJack This or SBS&D for it again.

HiJackThis had nothing to do in causing the Win XL to be restored.

As you can see, I did not know how to DL and set up HiJack this properly.

Suggestion for precise instructions on download and set up would be
a plus on this www page. http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/

Hijack This is available as a compressed (zip file) which you need to unzip before running. You would mainly do it this way:

1) Go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ to download the file.

2) Download it to a temporary folder

3) Make sure you have an unzipping utility… one of which can be found at http://www.winzip.com/ It has a free 30 day trial. You can check for other unzipping utilities on the web, there are many free ones that will handle most compression formats.

4) Unzip using your utility to a different folder which you could name Hijack This for example.

5) Navigate to the folder you just unzipped to and double-click the Hijack This.exe icon to start the program. You can also make a shortcut of the file to your desktop for future use.

That's it!

Hijack This requires no special installation and uninstallation.
